FOXBRUSH
Parson Russell Terriers
All of our terriers and the puppies that we
raise are part of our family. They live in our house, get proper
exercise and health care, and are well socialized. Because our
terriers are housedogs, they must get along with each other.
Their wonderful temperaments allow them to play with each other, go in the
fields together, sleep on the sofa, and play with our children. This includes the stud dogs as well as the
bitches (several lines of terriers are prone to fighting). Our
main goal is to produce versatile dogs that do well in any
activity with their physical, mental, and genetic soundness
being our priorities.
We are not wholesale breeders, this is a
hobby/passion for us, so we do not have a large kennel of dogs
or a high volume of puppies produced. However, the terriers that
we raise are high in quality and make wonderful family members.
If you are interested in a puppy, our puppies
usually cost between $500-1000 and we occasionally have puppies
that sell for less with a spay/neuter requirement and limited
registration. All of the puppies receive a veterinary exam, are
given appropriate vaccinations, and are dewormed at least four
times before the new owner acquires the dog. We also sometimes
have older puppies and adult dogs available. Our
dogs are members of our family--it is important to us that they
go to appropriate homes--Parson Russell terriers are not the
correct dog for everyone. We encourage anyone looking to
buy a puppy to verify the parents' CERF eye status at http://www.vmdb.org/cerf.html
under CERF certification Online Verification and the BAER
hearing status at http://www.offa.org/. You may also check
Canine Health Information Center data which lists terriers who
have BAER, CERF and OFA patellar luxation results registered
with OFA at
http://www.caninehealthinfo.org/.
Older dogs tested before OFA recognized BAER testing may not show up. In those cases, the
owner should be able to provide the BAER test paperwork. CERF
testing needs done annually whereas BAER testing is a one-time
test.
The health, temperament, and genetic aspects
of our terriers are of utmost importance to us. Emphasis is
placed on correct terriers that will be sound and healthy
throughout their lives. All of our breeding stock is yearly CERF
certified for normal eyes and BAER tested for normal bilateral
hearing. These tests are important--Parson Russells can be
affected by vision problems such as cataracts and luxated lens
and with deafness problems. Our dogs are foundation stock for
the Parson Russell terrier in the American Kennel Club. If you
ever have any questions about Parson Russell terriers in general
or about any of our dogs, please call, write, or email us. We
are happy to talk and show our dogs to visitors.
